From the Principal

It is Almost Time for the 2019-2020 School Year!

It is almost time for the 2019-2020 school year to begin. Summer is nearly over and soon it will be time to start at IES Älvsjö.

Firstly, I would like to offer a huge congratulations to our outgoing Year 9 students. They have officially graduated and secured places at gymnasium. We wish them the best!

Secondly, I would like to welcome our new Year 4 students on Friday, 16 August at 10. The day will finish at 14 and lunch will be provided.

Next, I would like to welcome all students on Monday, 19 August at 10. The day will finish at 14 and lunch will be provided. Students will start their normal timetables on Tuesday, 20 August.

Our staff are busy preparing the school and lessons for our students. This year, we will emphasise the main tenets of the IES philosophy: high academic expectations, bilingual education and tough love. We will be sharing more information when the students start.

Recycled Arts Project

Here are the latest project in Crafts lesson:

Utilizing recycled materials to gain an understanding of global awareness and create collaborative 3D art pieces. Giving the students an opportunity to engage and explore various subject matters within a creative process. These creative activities involve a natural development of thinking, feeling, sensation & intuition.

Creating and communicating by means of different forms of expression. Providing a comfortable place where the students have the opportunity of developing their ability to observe and reflect.

Crafts project

Congratulation to Hampus 9C!

Hampus 9C played in the Portugal tournament and the Nordic School Championship. He did very well in both tournaments and got a new title FM (Fide Master) from the International Chess Federation  and also became third in the Nordic School Championship. Congratulations Hampus , we are very proud of you ! 

Indian Embassy School Outreach Program

The Indian Embassy team visited IES Älvsjö on 29th November 2018 to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and conduct a workshop. 

The highlights of the workshop was Breathing exercise, Presentation on Gandhian principles, Quiz and recognising the amazing effort done by Grade 9's in essay writing competition.

Ms. Isaksson and Ms.Ghosh selected 12 winners based on three categories : Excellent Writing, Outstanding Presentation and Exceptional Effort.

The Embassy team recognised  IES Älvsjö with a certificate and books for the library for participating in the School Outreach program.

Brochures for IES Älvsjö 2018-2019

The Year 4 students visited assigned rooms and areas in the school collecting information that would assist them in designing and creating their own I.E.S. ÄLVSJÖ brochures. They constructed descriptive sentences on their topics and in groups compiled their school brochures.
