The boys took to the field for their first competitive games of the academic year 2018-19. With limited time to prepare and train, a squad of just thirteen boys travelled to Torvalla IP on October 9th.
In the first game, the boys took up a 4-4-2 formation. The first twenty minutes were mostly even, with both sides enjoying good spells in possession. The tactics employed by Älvsjö caused Söderbymalm a number of problems to solve. However after a strong start, the boys found themselves 1-0 down on the twenty minute mark. This was closely followed by another three goals in the next ten minutes which resulted in a 4-0 loss.
After a brief talk between the two matches, the boys went out for their second game against Rudan. The fresh legs of Rudan players showed straight away and we quickly found ourselves 3-0 down. A change of formation to a 4-3-3 stemmed the flow and the boys started to find their way into the game and create some chances of our own. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be and as the match wore on, more gaps started to appear allowing Rudan to find the net on two more occasions.
The boys represented IES Älvsjö impeccably and whilst the scoreline wasn’t what we had hoped for, their are strong foundations upon which to build moving forwards. Well done to everyone involved.
